What is AI image reframing?

Reframing means changing the canvas aspect ratio, for example turning a portrait photo into 16:9 for YouTube, without stretching the subject. Hiding Elephant uses AI to intelligently crop or extend (outpaint) the scene so edges look natural. It's the same idea as "expand" or "uncrop" tools you may have seen elsewhere.

Is this different from a normal image resizer?

Yes. A classic resizer scales pixels up or down while keeping the same aspect ratio, that's what our Image Optimizer does. The Image Reframer changes the frame itself (new width-to-height ratio) using AI, so you can go from square to widescreen or portrait to landscape without squashing your subject.

Does it only crop, or does it actually extend the image?

It reframes. The AI decides whether to crop intelligently (when there's room to trim) or extend the background (uncrop / expand) when you need more canvas. Products, people, and text stay intact, so you don't get stretched or awkwardly clipped results.

Can I use this to uncrop or expand an image?

Yes, when you pick a wider or taller aspect ratio than your original, the AI can generate new pixels around the edges so the scene fills the frame. Add an optional prompt (for example "extend the sky") for even more control.

Which aspect ratios are supported? How many images at once?
